    CyberParcour01 v1r4
    ________________________________

SVN doesn't accept the previous versions as Race maps anymore, I now converted it to a CTS map.
Changed some entities (tele-cap now at 600) and the mapinfo file.

Please Note: This version works best with 2.5.1svn (or above) because of new entity attributes.

    Here we go:
Implemented (capped) teleporters to bring you back to the last passed checkoint when you fall down.
Included a "real" finish line (spawnflags 8 ).
Included a "place 1" spawn point (though this is more for completion's sake :P )
Reduced the scale of the metal texture to 0.25, looks better now.
Increased -samplesize to 8, used external lightmaps, performance is now similar again to v1.

Please Note: This version works best with 2.5.1svn (or above) because of new entity attributes.

I added several "backup" paths for less experienced race players.

I replaced the jumppads at the end with a more "fitting" finale

Now that everything is packed, I realised that my spelling is completely wrong,
the word Parcour(s) (=a race track with obstacles) doesn't even seem to exist in English,
and in French or "German" it is written with an s at the end.
And the new "sport" is written Parkour, so no luck here

Anyway, this is how it is now called: CyberParcour01

    Have fun

Yes, though I don't think single-colour textures can be licensed, I nevertheless licensed everything under the GPL v2. The rocket sound is based on 2 sounds from Tenshihan's GPL Soundbank and 1 sound that is already included with Nexuiz.

Then I also would have to rename the folders, and edit the map file, and recompile, and repack. I always wrote it this way, even though it's not correct :P . But, if I'm asked to do so by morfar or any other project leader, I will.

BTW, for the ones who are not able to get to the last part, but still want to try it, I've left in my test teleporter, it's behind the starting spawn point, down the "hole".

    Image

EDIT: This teleporter is removed in new versions (1.4+)

Well, this is just how I called it, assuming the word parcours commonly used in French and German for a racetrack with obstacles also does exist in English (without an s), but it doesn't. I simply don't like an s at the end, or a k in the middle.

  • The 'slowmo' CVar functions as a great modifier for difficulty on race maps.

  • i think sev is one of the best nexuiz mappers but in my opinion(only in my opinion)his maps don't have the "nexuiz" style i mean for example desert factory and in this case this map have a cartoon style like warsow...i don't think that this is the style of nexuiz...
but i really like sev work and i thank you

That's mainly because of this: viewtopic.php?t=5106 (though I did v1r2 before I read that thread, it sums up the reason why I included easier ways to get through)

    Anyway...
EDIT: Posted a video to prove it, now deleted to make room for other files.

Should be fixed with v1r4 (first post).

  • Yes it works. But I'm not sure the teleporters beneath the map is correct. I got teleported to the beginning even when I was at the second checkpoint. :(

  • This depends on the direction. Obviously I had to make sure that it is not possible to use the teleporters to ones advantage.

    I made a quick sketch:
    Image

Now, if you jump "backwards" into the red teleporter, yes, you will be teleported back to the start, even though you are at the 2nd checkpoint.
