I have enjoyed 2.4.2 for several months without problems. (Win XP)

Since I upgraded to 2.5
I can't execute nexuiz.exe (Crashes)

When I execute SDL version
I can't join any of the 2.5 servers! I can however play in 2.4.2 servers!!!
I get this error message

couldn't exec maps/[mapname].cfg

I have tried downloading map pack and on other occations allowing the game to download relevant map.

Interestingly I can chat until the game downloads the map. As soon as it does and gives me the above error message, I can only see what's going on in the console. I can't even chat.

I have re installed 4 times to different hard drives. No result. Restart obviously doesn't work.

I am at a loss. I wonder whether a kind soul can help me out?? This must be a software problem? I haven't tried the GLX version as I don't know where to find it?

Sounds freaky.. the error message has nothing to do with your problem though.
Did you extract 2.5 in a directory of its own? Making sure there are no old files that might create problems.

It is indeed freaky !! I have done a FRESH install in a different harddrive to prevent any old files from being there.. although I wiped the directory with ashampoo wipe AND deleted all registry entries (There weren't any significant ones)

Hmm, there have been a few other reports about being unable to connect with 'server-client keep alive' messages.. but so far not persistent like for you. From the other reports it only happend a few times. ( http://forums.alientrap.local/viewtopic.php?t=1085 )
So far i have no idea about the reason. Can you try to connect to divVerents or my server? (lazy dog, DOES NOT CTF JETPACK or planetnexuiz.de) They running the current development version that will be released as a bugfix release in the future..
Maybe i can also watch the logs then..

Thanks Esteel. I will try to do this in the next day or so. I am in the process of changing internet providers currently!

Just an update: I can run nexuiz.exe now and join 2.4.2 servers. Same problem for all Australian 2.5 servers.

I have tried running 2.5.1 and joining so far ... same result.

I couldn't connect to your server yet as my internet is slow. when I download one map..it's moved on to the next.

I can create my own server and play with bots however. I can still join 2.4.2 servers and play without problems.

When I get this problem, usually quitting and starting Nexuiz again helps, but it seems this isn't your case.

Yes that's the problem alien. If I got a cent for each time I rebooted......

Just to confirm I can't join 2.5.1 servers either! Can play fine and dandy in 2.4.2!!!

I have downloaded 2.5.1 again and re installed to different directory but no result. I have switched off my firewalls etc...

Esteel I think i can connect to the Lazydog servers but can't confirm because I need to leave the computer while it takes half hour to download each map and catch up to the play!
