Sorry, you were gone for a while, I've already taken the liberty to redesign it. It should be active in ~a week.

Feel free to redesign zymotic's website.

Okay cool, I'd be happy to do so.

Is it okay if I post up a couple of ideas here as I go along?

  • Hi, I've been busy with a lot of work recently, but I've been working on the Zymotic website a little.

Here's a logo/game icon I've made for Zymotic, just to show what I've been up to and what you can expect in the future.

    Image

I'll have some basic mockups of the website up and running very soon.

PS I understand that Zymotic is in early stages of development, though if possible could the dev team send me some more content (screenshots, videos, information) so that I can begin implementing it into the design of the site? At the moment I haven't got anything to build on. Thanks.

Oh, and I suppose this should really be in the Zymotic development forum. Would a mod kindly split and move this post to a new topic there? Thanks.

^ Website header coming together, now working on typography and AJAX functions.

The home page will begin with a short description of the game, followed by a screenshot (preferably at full quality, the footage in the demo video is too low resolution to be used). It will then split into two columns, headed 'In the Blog' - basically excerpts from the progress log where the dev team can announce progress and new ideas, and on the right, 'Latest Media' - which will comprise of thumbnails from the 'Media' page (new screenshots and videos of the game in development, which visitors can drool over :P)

The 'Media' page will include a screenshot gallery and a small collection of flash videos embedded in the page.

The 'Blog' page, as aforementioned, will work as both a progress log and news centre for the game, visitors being able to comment and discuss new developments as the posts come in. However, there will also be a link to the main AT discussion forums here, considering that this is the real source for discussion surrounding the games development, and the Blog will act mainly as a source for news and updates.

The 'AlienTrap' link will simply link to the Alientrap website, or forum (whichever you choose) and thus credit the development team.

The website will use AJAX to load pages, rather than standard HTML, so that the page won't have to reload when viewing a new section of the website. That small red globe underneath home is the navigation indicator, which will move in respect of the section the visitor is currently viewing.

If there are any more ideas please feel free to suggest them, and I'll see if I can implement them into the site.

  • I think the z should be more connected but otherwise, it looks sharp.

I'll make it smaller and see what it looks like, though the idea is that it's coming out of the navbar gives it emphasis :)

I agree, it's not obvious that it is a Z. Will modify that.

  • It's been a month and a half guys.. still haven't received any content. Is it going to be worth making this website or is it really dead in the water? I haven't seen much activity or discussion on the forum recently. I'd like to know soonish seeing as I've come across some free time in which I could work on the zymotic website.

    Thanks.

  • Right now the Zymotic project is heavily delayed, because of the lack of progress I've focused my attention on Capsized. The biggest issue was lack of a good reliable level designer.

Zymotic still has a lot of content and gamecode, so I might quickly fix a few problems with it and then just release it all as an open alpha. I am not sure how soon that would be though,

  • If you want, i'd be interested in working on any bugs it might have by the way. I will mostly be working on Nexuiz, but I suppose if I can help -- Why not?... Hopefully Zymotic has a clean slate atm, Nexuiz is all messy by now sadly. (Especially with the bots)
Do it yourself, or stop complaining.

Err .. Nexuiz code is not THAT messy, nor the bots code in its current state. Just some areas are hard to modify or extend, like the scoring system, or understand easily like the bots code.

But well, you know what they say, do it yourself or stop complaining ;)

If you have some preliminary content, anything, screenshots of half made levels, characters, text, literally any scrap you've got I can put it all to use in the website pretty quickly. Please email me your material to mail[at]eurekacreative[dot]co[dot]uk or PM me it. I can't work otherwise :)
