  • Nexuiz/SVN can now kickban. It is already enabled on RBI:

On RBI, masters can now kickban using "vdo kickban #3", where the number is from status. Also, kick now also works without a space before the number, and both commands would show who is going to get kicked/banned in the voting yes/no screen.

A kickban kicks the player and bans his /24 network for 90 minutes.
    1. Open Notepad
    2. Paste: ÿþMSMSMS
    3. Save
    4. Open the file in Notepad again

You can vary the number of "MS", so you can clearly see it's MS which is causing it.

  • What was the old method?
Add ip addresses to the net_kickban list or something?

  • There is no old method.
With 2.3, you can either kick or ban permanently (net_banlist), but there is no kickban.

  • Yes, the old method was using net_banlist. I now consider net_banlist obsolete. Using net_banlist was not votable and would have been too easy to abuse.

  • Well, you usually stay in the same /24 network or in a small selection of them :P

For example, I only was in five of these /24 networks in the last year (T-Online). Still, that can ban innocent people... but it's time limited.

  • Excellent; just the intermediate required to deal with the people who constantly rejoin after being kicked.

P.S. I was planning to start a topic on the need for a kickban a few days ago...
