New Character head (high poly)

  • ok.. so I set about starting a new character for Nexuiz..

    This is the high poly head concept. I'll work on the body, hands, armor etc.. in parts so that I can do a retopo on the model and then reduce the poly's to the limit. If anyone has any objections or thoughts please let me know.

  • Thanks for all the responses, I really appreciate it. :D

    I'm working on the body and will probably have something to show by the end of this weekend. It's a long process to get the detail required for a modern model, but I think this one will definitely be my best yet..

  • That looks great. The only thing that I don't like is the ear... I think it should somehow be more reptilian (maybe just remove the outer ear).

    Very nice work. I'll be looking forward to seeing the complete model. :D

  • Really cool, although I have 2 suggestions. First, I don't know how workable the model is with all those teeth. They look awesome, but they couldn't all actually be rendered in a player model. Second, I think it would be cool if you added some detail to the top of the head- maybe some organic-like protrusions

  • This is a high poly model. When he makes the low poly version he takes a normal map from the high poly version. So it looks like the low poly model have more polygons ingame :P

    I know- but normal maps aren't good for super-small detail like thousands of teeth. But I'm sure you will figure it out :D

  • I know- but normal maps aren't good for super-small detail like thousands of teeth. But I'm sure you will figure it out Very Happy


    If you are curious the teeth were made many and close together sop that they would map out on to solid poly's that wrap around the inside of the mouth. The idea is that there will actually be very little black between so that you don't see anything more than the jagged rows of teeth and black.

    If I made to few then it would show up bad, but in this case it should work out.
