[Your daily q3 map][05] cha0s - kritische masse

  • Nr. 5:
    A medium sized complex deathmatch arena. I added DOM-support and made use of dp_water (see screenies). Let me know if some items should get changed and what do you think about the scale? hf !

    description:
    "Kritische Masse" again comes from the German
    language and is translated to "critical mass" ...

    More than a year has passed since I began to work
    on this map, and I really can't say if it kicks
    ass or not - it's pretty hard to judge something
    you've been working on for so long.

    R_speeds are high (max. ~13k - depends on your
    r_subdivisions settings), but I think they are
    worth it. I tried my best with the vis - it's not
    perfect but works :)
    Thanks to countless hours of optimization the bots
    turned out to play very nice, except that they
    don't reach the RA.

    Hope you have as much fun playing the map as I
    have had making it :]

  • the best map of your list so far :)
    It have good performance, nice visuals, and I like the scale (enough space too move but not to large).

  • This is a pretty neat map. I just played it a bit on my DM server with a couple other people. There are a few ramp jumps. Items are spread out. I originally thought there weren't enough weapons, but it turned out the weapons were sort of "hiding" in the textures of the map so I ran past them. :-)

  • I found the secret room :p But I cheated- I found it in spectator mode :).

    Does the secret room affect gameplay?

    I don't like the idea of a TDM on a map with a secret room. :-(

  • I doubt it will affect gameplay. I tried to reach it in-game, and it's nearly impossible. A person would kill themselves several times before they managed to get up there.

  • I only reached it using the hook.
    And i guarantee that it doesn't affect gameplay :wink:

    unless you find the second entrance. That one is pretty easy and doesn't cost that much health/armor.

    But you're right. there are of course more then one entrances.
    But it's really just a gimmick for people to find out.
