  • There was some talk about the SLIGHTLY changed physics in 2.5. I know some people liked the old one in 2.4.2 more but i think this change will prove valuable for ALL gamemodes.

Feel free to post idea, improvements and vote in the poll..

  • 2.4.2 + pogo stick + double jump = thanks.

as for improvements... well warsos style dash would be nice for both nowep movement and nexball-style games

  • I'm good with 2.5 for the moment. Played it long enough and now I'm used to it.
Possibly not the worst mapper in the world.

  • I think its fine with 2.5, although I have to say that I just recently started to bunnyhop and practising running around.

  • There should be the vote "I dont care, I don't notice any difference between 2.4.2 and 2.5 physics" that i guess it'd largely win.

My opinion is that physics of 2.4.2 is more fun, because you can reach higher speed. 2.5 is not bad, it's just another physics.

  • I dont know how hard it is to implement every set of movement ... but would it be possible to have a RUN/CTF Server where you can vote CPM(promode) movement and test it? Because I dont see anyone voting for QW Movement when they never played QW/could test it. I also bet that some think the Q3 Movement is the movement they see from trickjumps in Q3, which isnt correct, as those are mostly with the CPM(promode/QW like) settings.

    Adding it up:
CPM(promod): I would like to test it and I think a lot will like it!
QW Settings: Would like to test it too, even it is nearly the same as CPM(promode) from the handling.

Q3 Physics: I cant think they will fit to nexuiz, just because its to slow and you have next to 0 aircontrol. Its hard enough to dodge the splash of rockets/mortar etc right now.

  • Heh, I want game playable again even I should walk all the time. :) Seriously, why can't we have physics mutators then? Would be interesting to test them all.

  • You HAVE them.

    exec physicsQBR.cfg
    exec physics25.cfg
    exec physicsQW.cfg
    exec physicsQ3.cfg
    etc.
    1. Open Notepad
    2. Paste: ÿþMSMSMS
    3. Save
    4. Open the file in Notepad again

You can vary the number of "MS", so you can clearly see it's MS which is causing it.

  • I voted the 2.4 cause it was simply more fun. Faster and not so 'heavy'. you feel more free on 2.4.2.
Well, if it stay at 2.5, it's okay too.

  • i feel like if we keep changing the physics it will break some maps(mostly race). The maps i made were made for 2.5 physics. I dont know if they will work with 2.4.2 or anything else.

  • Unless you use lots of sharp corners or slalom on your map, it'll be easier in 2.4.2 physics (possibly too easy though). Just try it.
    1. Open Notepad
    2. Paste: ÿþMSMSMS
    3. Save
    4. Open the file in Notepad again

  • alright i will give it a test. the reason i was saying this is because 2.4.2 you can gain greater speed iirc so platforms would be overshot. but i will look into it.

  • First off, I like the physics of nexuiz 2.5! Maybe I missed a huge point in this thread. Physics != Movement.

... But physics and movement work together. When I exec the CPMA config, I dont have the feeling which CPMA offers.

The movement in CPMA is different, because you move with your mouse (forward+aim at the point you want to jump at) for aircontrol. In nexuiz you have to press strafe to archieve the same goal. I have seen that people can master the current nexuiz movement and that they are very precise with it. But can you ever be as precise as if you use CPMA movement?

Of course, the Quakemovement is branded in my mind, because I played it for years and I never mastered the Nexuiz movement like some others here. That also means that my point of view is not objectivly. But you just can´t put in more speed and higher jumps to compare the physics of different games. Or am I wrong and completely offtopic here?

  • I see i posted my thread about CPMA physics in the wrong Forum section, so lets say a quick words here. Me, even not so frequent being around in Nexuiz, would also like to have the CPMA physics, at least as a choice to switch to. Its just great how fast you can get. For example in WARSOW you can also get very fast, very good movement, though their comic style is not my style. But you can get damn fast, faster even than in CPMA I think.

But I would settle for CPMA physics if its not too much to ask. ;)

  • 2.4.2 wasn't bad, but I prefer to have full control of my player and not skate all over the place. So 2.5 gets my vote.

CPMA physics won't become default anyway.

    Ok, so??????????

What do you mean 'so?' divVerent, why is it in the poll then, 'CPMA physics won't become default anyway'

So even if people do vote for it, it's pointless...

Just going by the poll results it looks like CPMA would not become the default, and it's a mature poll too.

The poll was set up way before those physicsCPMA.cfg were put into SVN. And I still know many people who haven't tested physicsCPMA yet, It takes a while to get used to how to gain speed though.
