Those screens were taken on DCC's CTF server shortly before making this post. This is what happens whenever somebody shoots bullets (machine gun, sniper rifle, shotgun). Look at the frame-rate. As far as I can tell, I'm the only one who has this problem, and it only happens on some servers. I'm guessing it's a bad .pk3 or something. Any idea how to locate it? Or otherwise fix the problem? Looks like the bullet trail has been replaced by a particle effect of some kind.

I'm currently using the aug 16th build. This problem appeared before I started using it.

  • That indeed looks like a bad effectinfo.

If you're using a svn build or the beta, can you post the output of "which effectinfo.txt" in the console?
    Meh.

  • extract effectsinfo.txt to data/scripts from your last valid release pk3 (data****.pk3) and it should override any nonsense from evil pk3's.

<Diablo> quake1 never had a weapon like that.
<Vordreller> there was no need for anything over 4GB untill Vista came along

  • Try the "which" trick before, so you can identify the faulty pk3 :)

I was going to give it a try, but now the problem seems to have cleared up all by itself. Go figure.

But at least I know what to do if something like this pops up again. Thanks.

  • For a temporary fix:

Remove team_beam.pk3 (something like that) in your dlcache folder.

I have no idea why, but it loads on dcc.

This is 36 times more impressive, because it is 6^2 more difficult to cooperate with six different people, versus just oneself.
