  • Hey everyone. This a remake of a Quake 2 map I have been working on for a while. I've decided its now ready for release after a busy weekend of texturing and lighting. It has some differences between itself and the original but is mostly true to form.

I'm only worried about the scale of the map as it might not be -quite- large enough for Nexuiz as I was recreating it brush for brush. This is a first version however so I can always scale it up and change it :D

    Enjoy.

  • Doesn't look too small from the screenshot's, height wise I mean, perhaps it's a bit too small in actualy like length size if that's what rad_ished means?

Will try check it out soon.

  • If anyone can give me a difference in scale from Quake -> Nexuiz I can just scale the whole thing up appropriately

  • Ok its been scaled up to 1.3 and is now uploading. Also replacing the rather garish button texture with something a bit easier on the eyes.

I'm just going to change the link in the original post since not many of you downloaded it yet.

But heres the link anyway for anyone who hit 'end' on the 'ol keyboard.

  • Seems pretty good now, so I'll add it to the contest. Could perhaps be a tiny bit bigger, but that's just me :)

  • Ok after playing this several times it seems red base is indeed at a distinct advantage. So I've been speaking to people and the idea came up that another corridor should be added thusly (the ending location at red base is approximate):

Any ideas/suggestions/elaborations on this idea or anything else?

Also, I don't know with whom you've played the map, but in quake2 BLUE has a very big advantage on this map.

  • It's a nice map but a little tight.

I also think you could use another path to the flag.

In nexuiz so far it seems to be red. Maybe the pubs are not ideal to test balance on. Come to think of it I have had some balanced games.

I just need more feedback really. At the moment I want to scale it up just a little more and move a few weapons around and change the rotation of the fan above the middle.

I agree with -z-, more flag routes would be nice. The only way to win is to actually get people to cooperate or just have the better team.

  • NEW VERSION 1r2

Ok so I went ahead and implemented a bunch of changes:

-Added an extra corridor from red base -> middle just to see how it turns out for balance. This means they have their own nex.
-Moved the mortar in each base so you know longer need to laser up to get it
-Moved one of the buttons in the middle of the map so its now idiot proof for what it triggers
-Changed the lift move speed. I thought they were painfully slow.
-Increased top fan rotation speed and size to make it more difficult to get the Shield (hint: use the jetpacks)
-Attempted to make a clearer 'mapshot'
-Scaled the map larger. Its now 1.5 instead of its previous 1.3. I think it feels a little too big but we shall see.

Tell me asap if there are any packaging errors. I am very tired just now so I might have broken something
