This post needs to be clarified - Cortez ported red, Grassy made re-red (retextured and a little other work). The original red from what I'm told had some brush problems, idk for sure cuz I never looked. I haven't noticed any missing textures on either. Side note - the fact that you can survive under the lava is a glitch in the original that was funny so it was kept, and it's rare that someone can make it in & out alive.

  • I will be submitting soylent_ctf_v2 for the contest. v1_r5 is good but has had complaints about gameplay. #nexuiz.nct has had discussions about it so feel free to join in or pm me on irc. There is a link to the ftp folder containing all the files (unpackaged as of yet) for v2_r1 if anyone would like to look. The bases have been pulled farther apart and a building separates the middle. As of yet it still needs jumps (pads and ramps), lighting, and different textures in some places because there is a lot of plain stone. The top level of the middle is going to be extended towards the bases a bit to make more of a floor. If there are any other suggestions let me know, but please look at the map first.

the map runs on the unconnected-clan server, yet. i hope you can ive me an reply :D

Wow, this actually looks abit more playable, just one request, can it have more than one jump-pad for each base air collisions are an even bigger problem now. Can you also raise the angle of the jump-pads, they look like they want to throw you into the void and are quite annoying, add some more detail and mentalspace will finally get a good version.

Soylent CTF is awesome and so is Bloodrage.

Some of the official maps need renovation as well to become official "quality" :P

Anyways 1,2 and 3 would rock in nexuiz :D

Yes, and we plan to do that actually :P In fact, we have a topic about that on the dev site. (http://dev.alientrap.org/wiki/nexuiz/Future)

  • Now I only found one place with a missing texture, but got load errors for some reason, even though everything seemed to be in order (minus that one spot).

However, I noticed two places where there were texture placement errors, one stretched and the other just mispositioned. Unless you actually meant for it to be like that. Just looks a bit odd.

  • By clarify I meant which map - red or re-red - they are 2 separate maps. It looks to me from the screens like re-red.

Well, it's from the map Cortez posted links to, so whatever map that is. Though it was kinda obvious. :P As, why would I talk about a map which wasn't submitted here? From the name of .pk3 (and console), it is 'Red'.

no they arent re-red is just a retextured red. grasshopper used the trak 4 texture set before it was in nexuiz so the textures have a different name and needed to be in the pk3. (thats the reason for the missing textures). for red v2 i replaced the visable textures(more or less successful :? ) with the one in the stack so the map size is much smaller then before. i also adjust some textures and make some minor item changes

Hey, this looks pretty good -- But I should point out that it would need to be done by 12/01 -- I also have one objection to it: How is the gameplay? The map looks very good, but it's not all about looks unfortunately. I'm trying out the map now, so we'll see.

Anyway, i'm going to have to ask people to use a better upload site please.. I'm getting tired of filefront and its ads and shit.. The best one I could find (without many ads) is filebin.ca, I recommend it as it allows direct links and doesn't have lots of bullshit.

--- cortez: I downloaded the latest map, it looks good and seems to be packed well -- I will test it some more and if it seems fine, i'll add it to the submissions.

Eh well, you're going to need to fix the problems with it first, such as projectiles exploding against those energy beams.. I also found a random platform up in the middle of nowhere near the top of the map which is very dark, but has some health....... It has HEALTH?! Why? It's literally so high that it requires 2 laser jumps to get up there., and it only has like 5 small health.

Other than that, I like the map. I'll submit it once you work out the main (beams) issue :) -- It might even be a bug related to projectile speed/radius.... I mean, in my balance, the RL always goes through it.. But all of the other projectile weapons collide with it.

BTW, may I recommend submitting that other map you showed me a while ago? That was very cool.

It not only has health up there, but also a FIREBALL [formerly known as seeker]!!!! :D It's up there 'cause then only people commited to the art of fireballing will go up there to fetch that thing.. But you are right. The map still needs some finishing touches.. The other one was minideck. That one would need a total overhaul imho.. You have good maps, I recommend you definately get more peoples advice on them. In due time they will be awesome.

Hmm well, that's fine -- And I submitted minideck just now as I personally do not think it needs an overhaul :P (Just some small touchups, which I could probably do myself -- I'm sure someone who is skilled could do some even nicer touchups than me, though)

Again, i'll add your other map when you fix up the problem with the beams :) Anyway, yeah, keep up with mapping :)

  • Note: Remember everyone, submission period ends in 6 days. After that, you will not be able to submit maps (I'll look at them anyway, though).

The maps i'm currently waiting for/hoping they will be submitted in time:
    - The rest of the maps by FruitieX
    - SoylentCTF by MaKR

I was hoping to get dance-enclosed in, but I think Dib abandoned that idea.

Anyway, i'm going to add v1_r6 of cores.
